A good piece of writing can carry you away to another world. You can be a swashbuckling pirate or a princess in a tower. You can explore the silent cold depths of outer space or ride a thermal-powered sail board away from an exploding volcano. The writer brings these worlds to you in the safety of your own home and transforms your life, if even for a moment.
Some characters are quickly forgotten and become simply whispers of a memory while others allow us to suffer along with them, becoming a part of our lives forever more.
The balcony scene in Romeo and Juliet forever means pushing the boundaries of love, and the epic series of "The Chronicals of Thomas Covenant the Unbeliever" by Stephen R. Donaldson teaches us that no matter how much we despise our own lives, others can see our worth**
**If you have not read this 8 part series, I highly recommend it. Donaldson and his character development, especially with the Characters "Nom" and "Saltheart Foamfollower", is one of the reasons for my passion of fantasy.
